Days Out No. 8 : Sunday 17th May 1953 - Lancashire Sheds

On a very busy Saturday on 15th August 1953, ex L&Y Aspinall 3F 0-6-0 No. 52174 of Lostock Hall shed is pressed into service on the Liverpool Exchange portion of an express from Aberdeen.

This was an RCTS (The Railway Correspondence and Travel Society) trip originating from London to the North West. After an over-night train journey, the party assembled outside Crewe station for a tour of Lancashire sheds. At 5.35am, a Crosville coach, KW245, left Crewe for Morris Street, Wigan. It returned to Crewe at 5.45pm.
