Days Out No. 11 : 3rd April 1955 - Leeds & Bradford Sheds

An Aspinall 2P 2-4-2T 10855, built for the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway, was seen at Low Moor on 25th May 1947.  Photo - Ben Brooksbank, licensed for reuse under the Creative Commons 2.0 licence.

This was an RCTS (The Railway Correspondence and Travel Society) trip which originated in London and travelled to the West Riding of Yorkshire. After an over-night train journey, the party assembled outside Leeds City station for a tour of Leeds and Bradford area sheds. At 6:45am, a West Yorkshire Road Car Company coach, CB1, left the station for Leeds Neville Hill shed. It returned to Leeds City station at 4:05pm.
The party travelled on the 12.05am St. Pancras to Leeds (City), an 11 coach train hauled throughout by Jubilee 4-6-0 45612 "Jamaica" of Kentish Town (14B).
