The Group of enthusiasts left Paddington on the 1am train to Gloucester (Central) which arrived at 4.12am. The 14 coach train was hauled by 'Castle' class 7017 G. J. Churchward. At Gloucester the party changed into a Bristol Greyhound coach for the tour, which began at Lydney, a subshed of Gloucester Horton Road.
