Ashford Works
Ashford Works was built by the South Eatsern Railway in 1847 and replaced earler workshops at New Cross in London.
On 1 January 1899, the railway formed a working relationship with the London Chatham and Dover Railway . This became
the South Eastern and Chatham Railway (SECR). Between 1850 and 1951, 711 steam and 32 diesel locos were built.
In 1962 all locomotive production and repairs moved to Eastleigh.
