  1. Adams 4-4-2 is seen opposite the gate through the concrete fencing to the colony! (My entry point every day)1960-63. The line going off to the left, under the rear of the Adams goes into the engine shed, with water gantry, and pit. I fired M7,41 Ivatts,82 BR standards and the heavier 800 Riddles. My favourite was the 2MT Ivatt. We hosted many of these type,Nothing wrong with the 82 Standard tank though,(good). We were a popular line/Destinations Exeter, Buddleigh,Sidmouth, Exmth docks (goods)and a busy shunting yard by the river Exe!. Introduction of diesel units forced me back to Exmth jct with Maunsel,Bulleid,Z class (Banking)etc, etc. And onto 3rd pref transfer to Bristol Barrow rd (steam)and Bath rd diesels,1000s,800s,7000s etc,(No single manning back then). Redundant in 67?! Gone away from the point here somehow (your photo). Cheers.

  2. I was going to add to the above piece with a daily routine of fireing and the preparation of a steam locomotive in years gone by! Its many jobs / routes with M7/ 82 standard/ tank/ ivatt 41 and the heavier Riddles 8000. Later trips out and about with the new 1000 western or the 800 Warship. The site seems innactive?.....nostalgia calling earth!!
