Shed Profiles - Canklow & Staveley Barrow Hill in 1962.

Millhouses shed closed on 31st December 1961, and of the 34 locos that were on the allocation, all but four went to Canklow. These were four BR class 2MT 2-6-0s which went to Doncaster (36A). 11 of the 30 which left Millhouses were used at Canklow, the other 19 engines were sent to Staveley for storage until their fate was decided. Six were sent to the ex Great Central shed (41H) and the other 13 spent a few months at Barrow Hill (41E). 
During January and February 1962, the following ex Millhouses locos were stored:

The influx of engines from Millhouses enabled Canklow to move eight of their 4F 0-6-0s to Staveley Barrow Hill where they were stored until they were needed. These engines were 43882, 44071, 44174, 44212, 44265, 44287, 44426 and 44576.

At the beginning of 1962 major changes took place in the Sheffield area. Millhouses shed was closed and the locos were transferred to Canklow, where 11 were in regular use whilst 19 were put into store for a few weeks at Barrow Hill. Canklow was also dispensing with its fleet of 4F 0-6-0swhich were also in store here.
